American Blackjack Rules

The game is played with six decks of 52 playing cards and follows the standard rules of the classic variant of blackjack. The dealer does not steal a glance when an A shows up in the player’s hand. The dealer stands on all 17s. Besides, the croupier is dealt one card face-up and the other face-down (a hole card). The dealer can peep in his hand since there is an opportunity for a blackjack. In this case, the game ends, and all bets are collected.

American Blackjack has no side wagers, but there is an option to make an insurance bet or an even money bet in case the dealer has a blackjack. In this case, the payout changes to 2:1 or 1:1, respectively. The dealer offers the player to make an even money bet if the player’s hand is a pure blackjack and the dealer’s face-up card is an A. If the dealer has a blackjack, too, money is tied, neither lost or paid. If the dealer does not have a blackjack and the player does not take the even money bet, the gambler is paid a 3:2 payout.

The player cannot split his already split hands. However, there is an option to double the bet. Additionally, the game follows a 10-Card Charlie rule, where the player can draw up to 10 cards without going bust. This rule applies to split hands, as well.
