Cubes: A Colourful Grid Game from Hacksaw Gaming
Cubes is a grid-based casino game from Hacksaw Gaming, a studio that built its reputation on simple, mobile-friendly instant games before moving into slots. Instead of traditional reels and paylines, the game is played on a square grid of coloured cubes, and wins come from connecting groups of matching colours. It has a clean, almost puzzle-like look that makes it stand out from typical themed slots. The free demo above is the quickest way to understand how the grid behaves.
How Cubes Works
The play area is a 5×5 grid filled with cubes in different colours. You choose your stake and start a round, and the grid fills with a fresh set of cubes. When five or more cubes of the same colour connect next to each other, they form a winning cluster and pay according to the paytable.
- Set your bet and start the round
- Watch the grid fill with coloured cubes
- Win when five or more matching cubes connect
- Larger clusters lead to bigger payouts
Why It Feels Different
Cubes trades elaborate themes for clarity. There are no complicated symbol hierarchies to learn, and the colour-matching rule is instantly understandable. That gives the game a calm, focused feel, almost like a casual puzzle app, although outcomes are entirely random and there are no player decisions during a round. The minimal design also works very well on smaller screens. Players who want story-driven bonus rounds or dramatic animations may find it too restrained.
Who Should Play It
Cubes suits players who enjoy cluster-style mechanics and appreciate clean, modern design. It is a good choice for short sessions on mobile and for anyone who finds heavily themed slots a little overwhelming. Before playing for money, take a look at the game info screen to see the exact payout values and return to player at your casino.
Verdict: a neat, colourful grid game that proves a simple idea can be entertaining. Try a few rounds in the demo, get a feel for how often clusters form, and set a session budget before switching to real money.
